Trinity Hall Winter Athletics: A Very Successful 2024-2025 Season for the Monarchs | Monarch Media

This winter, Trinity Hall’s athletes once again delivered a season filled with record-breaking performances and historic milestones. Across every sport, Monarchs proved their dedication not only to individual successes but also to success as a team. Through unwavering teamwork and relentless spirit, Trinity Hall continues to make a name for itself in New Jersey high school girls’ sports. 


One of the most impressive highlights this year came from the ice hockey team, which secured the Cohen Cup Championship for the first time in program history in a display of skill and teamwork. Leading the team this season was Sienna DeAngelis ‘27, who racked up an impressive 44 goals with eight assists, proving to be a powerful force on offense. Lucy Malgrave ‘28 also made a significant impact as a freshman, tallying 12 goals and 12 assists. In addition, Senior Virginia Avery contributed seven goals and four assists, while Bridie Fitzgerald ‘25 added five goals and eight assists. The team’s strength was made apparent in its balanced scoring, with multiple players stepping up in crucial moments. With 84 total goals, the team proved itself as a serious contender for the state title. With a strong roster and key contributions from players across all grades, the Monarchs demonstrated their skill and resilience throughout the season.


Meanwhile, in the pool, the swim team continued its reign by capturing both the Monmouth County and Shore Conference Championships. Whether it be individual or relay events, the Monarchs gave their all this year, pairing their dedication and skill with strong camaraderie. Seniors Mia Smith and Maxine Camillone led the team with a mix of experience and poise, contributing crucial points in their individual races. “This season was all about pushing our limits and supporting each other,” Smith said. “We set goals, and every swimmer played a role in achieving them. Even though we are swimming in our own lane, we win as a team.” The Monarchs’ relay teams were particularly strong, showcasing coordination and speed in the pool. With the leadership of their upperclasswomen and the promising talent of their underclasswomen, the team built a legacy of sportsmanship and achievement that will guide them into future seasons. 


The Trinity Hall basketball team had a phenomenal season, showcasing resilience and unity on the court. The team had a balanced and dynamic roster, highlighted by Grace Feeney ‘26 earning Second Team All-Shore Conference honors. Feeney showcased her prowess by leading the team at a whopping 417 points, along with 186 rebounds and 39 assists. Junior guard Whitney Hobson also shined, contributing 216 points, 74 rebounds and a team-high 61 assists. Senior Lilly Riggi brought valuable experience to the team, helping to guide the younger players through high-pressure moments. She showcased her versatility with 206 points, 103 rebounds and 60 assists, going out of her fourth and final year on varsity with a bang. Under the guidance of Coach McCarthy, who celebrated his 100th career win this season, the team not only achieved success on the scoreboard but also strengthened their bond as a unit, setting a high standard for future seasons. 


Finally, the Trinity Hall track and field team raced through an unforgettable season, breaking an impressive seven school records along the way. This success was not only a testament to their athletic abilities but also to their relentless work ethic and strong team spirit. “Even though it's a lot of individual races, it is still a team sport and we all support each other,” says Senior Mairead Kane. “Everyone is so close from the freshmen to the seniors.” When observing this team, it is impossible to miss the strong bond that each girl has with another, demonstrating how powerful a team can be when support is reciprocated. The Monarchs’ dedication to pushing their limits and supporting each other helped create a season filled with memorable moments and a drive for further success in the spring season. 


From setting new records to winning championships, the winter sports teams at Trinity Hall demonstrated their commitment to excellence both on and off the court, track, and ice, and in and out of the pool! As the spring season approaches, the Monarchs look forward to continuing their tradition of success and representing Trinity Hall with pride.
