Throughout their time at Trinity Hall, students become leaders and use empathy to guide their problem-solving efforts, making them the perfect fit to be mentors to younger students. This year, Trinity Hall has partnered with the Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth County to do just that.
The Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth County is an organization dedicated to offering opportunities for youth development and enriching programs for young people in the community. Their initiative, “SMART Girls,” focuses on health, fitness, instilling confidence and boosting self-esteem for young women. In an effort to expand the “SMART Girls" program, Trinity Hall joined together with the Boys and Girls Club to create meaningful relationships and mentoring opportunities.
The students from Trinity Hall are able to be impactful and supportive mentors to the younger girls, giving them a safe environment to share and learn important skills for navigating life situations. Trinity Hall students act as positive role models and have the chance to demonstrate leadership skills while engaging in purposeful community service. The mentorship program offers regular meetings for both the older and younger girls to meet and engage in fun and goal-oriented activities. Trinity Hall students Maddie Quinn ‘26, Sands Webber ‘26 and Francesca Bowie-Jones ‘27 act as student leaders for the monthly outreach trips.
Bowie-Jones detailed some of the events of their last visit, including a collaborative project where the girls created vision boards as a visual manifestation of their goals and dreams. She reflected, “It's a really great experience to introduce them [the younger girls] to Trinity Hall and, to me, it kind of feels like we're their ‘big sisters’ in a way by just providing guidance and support when needed.” The “SMART Girls” program provides valuable support through sisterhood: guiding younger groups of girls in making safe and healthy lifestyle choices and cultivating positive relationships.
As a school community, Trinity Hall is dedicated to uplifting young women and providing opportunities for leadership. The collaboration with the Boys and Girls Club with focus on the “SMART Girls” program offers a wonderful way for our students to be representatives of our school, offer meaningful mentorship to younger girls and potentially inspire young girls to become Monarchs one day!
