On March 11, the Trinity Hall community was ecstatic to welcome Priscilla Loomis to campus as the next guest speaker in the Women in Leadership series. Loomis shared her inspiring life story and led students through a motivational speech before taking part in an engaging Q&A session.
A self-proclaimed “dynamic leader”, Loomis captivated the audience with her infectious energy as she moved all around the Commons sharing her remarkable journey with students. From her time as an Olympian in track and field to her entrepreneurial ventures, philanthropy work, and advocacy efforts, Loomis offered insights into her diverse and impactful career. She also informed listeners of her nonprofit organization, the Priscilla E. Frederick Foundation, dedicated to supporting single-parent households, providing grants and scholarships to students in need, and hosting women empowerment workshops. Loomis also shared exciting news about her upcoming digital streaming show, “Thrive Through It with Priscilla Loomis” premiering next month, in addition to her role as radio host for 106.3 Coast Country.
As a professional athlete, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and advocate, Loomis shared invaluable lessons with students and faculty members. As she passed around her medals for audience members to get a closer look, Loomis invited students to find their strength in their authenticity, rise above negativity and doubt, and embrace failure as a necessary step toward growth. Drawing from her own experience, she spoke openly about overcoming racism, sexism, and colorism, and emphasized how setbacks and challenges are opportunities for growth. Along with this, Loomis spoke of the impact of faith and community in her life, urging students to surround themselves with excellence and positivity at all times.
Throughout the event, Loomis invited students to join her on stage and take part in the conversation. Students from all grade levels were encouraged to share what they hoped to learn at the start of the presentation, along with their takeaways at the end of her presentation. Loomis generously provided participants with giveaways, such as inspirational journals and makeup.
Students felt inspired, invigorated, and energized by the presentation and the wise words of Loomis. Joy Ogunsakin ‘26, shared “I was enthralled by Priscilla’s every word. She illuminated a confidence about herself that I wish I had back in middle school when I needed it most. I believe she shone a light in me, telling me to stop caring about others’ biased misconceptions of me. Success is the best revenge!”
Similarly, Brooke Werdann ‘28 took Loomis’ encouragement regarding finding your self-worth and self-esteem to heart. Werdann explained that Loomis’ words “really stuck out to me because it not only spoke of those around me but also myself, and how I could be my biggest enemy at times.”
Emma Mullins '27 added, "I thought that Priscilla was an amazing speaker. She was empowering and I feel that her confidence and energy rubbed off on our entire community. Priscilla is exactly the type of woman that inspires young female athletes like myself."
Following her presentation, Loomis took the time to tour the campus, visit classrooms, and personally connect with students, leaving behind a trail of motivation and positivity. We thank Mrs. Loomis for her time and look forward to her return to campus for more inspirational words of encouragement for the Trinity Hall community.
