Kali Lambrou Recognized by the The National Center for Women & Information Technology

Congratulations to STEM faculty member Kali Lambrou who has been recognized by the The National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) as a National Honorable Mention in the Aspirations in Computing Educator Awards.

The National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) National Honorable Mention is a prestigious recognition bestowed upon educators who demonstrate exceptional commitment to advancing gender equity in computing education. This distinction acknowledges educators who have implemented innovative strategies to increase the meaningful participation of women in computing fields, particularly in environments where they have been historically underrepresented.

As a recipient of this distinguished accolade, Kali Lambrou was recognized for her multifaceted approach to fostering computational thinking and technical literacy among young women. Her development and implementation of a comprehensive four-year coding curriculum represents a paradigm shift in how computer science education is conceptualized at the secondary level. This sequenced program methodically scaffolds students from foundational programming concepts to advanced computational problem-solving.  Concurrently, her integration of computer science principles in experiential robotics programming has created multiple access points for students with diverse learning modalities. This pedagogical architecture not only addresses different cognitive approaches to technical content but also dismantles psychological barriers that have traditionally impeded young women's participation in STEM disciplines.

Congratulations, Kali!
