Annual Coffeehouse Showcases the Community’s Talents | Monarch Media

On Friday, January 31, the Arts, Community Life and SCOPE Councils came together to host the annual Coffeehouse event. It was very successful; a fun night for students to show off  their unique talents.

The Arts Council, and the Community Life Council worked together to plan this joint event while SCOPE hosted a bake sale to benefit a great cause. Arts Council Chair Sophia LaTourette stated, “The Coffeehouse was such a success this year. We had a great turnout, with faculty, students, parents and future Monarchs in our audience. Our performances were amazing thanks to our talented students at Trinity Hall. Special thanks to Gabby Gomez, SCOPE Council Chair, who organized a bake sale for the Coffeehouse with its profits going towards the Asbury Music Foundation. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported us!”

There were many performers and participants who showed off their talents, including sophomore Claire Cullinane who sang “Jolene” by Dolly Parton. She talked a little bit about what it was like to perform. She stated, “Performing at the coffee house was such a fun experience. So many people came out to support us and all of the acts were so impressive!” Another performance was from Kate Schweikert who sang “Work Song” by Hozier and performed a monologue titled “One Tupelo Saleswomen.” There was even a table filled with artwork of students on display for the audience to browse.

The Coffeehouse is a special event because it provides students with the opportunity to share their talents. Delaney Corrigan, a performer at the Coffeehouse and representative of the Arts Council loves this event. She stated, “The Coffeehouse has always been one of my favorite events in the community. It is so much fun to get on stage and perform and to be able to see all the amazing talents in the community that we do not get to see that often!”

This year’s Coffeehouse had the biggest turnout of both performers and audience members in Trinity Hall history. Not only was it a wonderful event that showcased the community’s talents but it also was successful in raising money towards the Asbury Park Music Foundation.
