Little Women, Huge Success! | Monarch Media

The QCC has done it again! This fall, the Queen's Court Company brought Lousia May Alcott’s “Little Women” to life on stage from Thursday, November 21 through Saturday, November 23.

Brought both to laughter and to tears by the March sisters, the audience was wowed by performances from Emily Rae O’Donnell ‘25 as Meg March, Joy Ogunsakin ‘26 as Jo March, Kate Schweikert ‘26 as Beth March, and Reese Evans ‘26 as Amy March. Perfectly portraying sisterly affection (and quarrels), one would think that O’Donnell, Ogunsakin, Schweikert and Evans truly share the same “Marmee”, played by Delaney Corrigan ‘26. Corrigan’s performance, equally as impressive, successfully convinced the audience that she was years older and wiser than her “daughters.” The sisters also mastered portraying their roles’ changing maturity from the first and second act to mirror the changing in time. One thing is for sure, the March girls’ performances were Basie worthy.

Other senior cast members Kasey Wilkens, Mia Pellicone, and Sophia Latourette (playing Aunt March, Mrs. Mingott, and Hannah respectively) also contributed to the production’s brilliance. Deserving of particular praise is both Wilkens’ and Pellicone’s ability to portray “high society” personalities in respective hoop skirts and Latourette’s gentle, yet sometimes sassy delivery. Brava to our seniors.

The March ladies and our senior actresses are not the only aspect of the QCC’s production that are deserving of accolades. The sets and costumes of “Little Women” have been some of the most complicated the Crowning Crew has faced yet. Set designers, led by Scarlett Faranti ‘25 and Latourette ‘25, had to create multiple different scenes including, but not limited to, the March household, a ballroom and Aunt March’s house. Costume designers also faced a difficult task in ensuring that each cast member (including the ensemble) was clad in a hand-sewn, 19th century dress or vest. However, the Crowning Crew’s work was not in vain, which Maggie Havens ‘26, leader of costumes along with Lucy Kennedy ‘25, said perfectly: “There is no better feeling than seeing the costumes you have worked on for months shine on stage!”

Mrs. Phillips and the QCC have only a few weeks of rest before they fire it all back up for the spring musical “The Hello Girls”. If the musical is half as amazing as “Little Women,” then the Trinity Hall community is in for yet another treat.
