On the night of October 10, 2024, the Trinity Hall community came out to support not one, but two Trinity Hall athletic events! As the soccer team had their fan day on one of the fields at Maria Gatta Park in Oceanport, the field hockey team played right alongside them on the next field, resulting in the first-ever dual fan day in Trinity Hall history.
Sophomore Georgie Avrillon, who attended the joint fan day expressed her excitement, “It was really cool to be able to watch both teams on two separate fields. I think it allowed us to connect with both sports really well and come together as a community to cheer on Trinity Hall’s teams.”
In addition to the community spirit, both sports teams found great success in their competitions. The soccer team had a huge win against their rival, Red Bank Catholic, shutting them out and winning 2-0. The field hockey team held one of the best teams in the Shore Conference, Rumson Fair Haven, to zero goals until late into the first half.
This year, the field hockey team reached a new high and won their division for the first time in school history. This was an especially large accomplishment as the team was moved to a division with stronger competition, adding teams such as Holmdel and Manalapan to divisional play.
The team’s record before the postseason was an impressive 10-6-1. After the first few losses, the team went on a seven-game winning streak, being brought to an end by a tie against Wall. With big wins over Howell, Holmdel and Middletown North, the Monarchs have proved themselves as the true division winners.
A large part of this success has come from the talent on the team, filled with passionate players dedicated to the sport. One of these players is goalkeeper Addison Evangeliou ‘26, who has had 142 saves this season and over 300 career saves. Evangeliou has been a steady wall in the goal and has assisted in leading the Monarchs to several victories. She said, “I think it’s really good to see how far the program has come since my freshman year, and I think it was a really great win seeing as last year we co-won our division. I think the program overall over the past three years has seen major amounts of improvement.”
The field hockey team has seen great improvement from previous years and secured their first-ever win in the Shore Conference Tournament against Lakewood on October 22, dominating with a score of 6-0.
The team put in effort and dedication in order to come to this achievement. Head Coach Emily Gallagher stated, “The journey to success started with fostering a positive team culture while placing importance on commitment and hard work. The team approached every game with enthusiasm and determination to achieve the desired results.”
Both the Trinity Hall field hockey and soccer teams have had triumphant 2024 seasons. Congratulations to both teams and good luck in the postseason!
