Recently, Isabella Garrison ‘26 was selected as the winner of the Trinity Hall Arts Council Bulletin Board Contest. The Arts Council chose the theme “Scenes from Summer” for the bulletin board displayed in the Commons, encouraging the community to post their illustrations from the past season.
Garrison illustrated a shark as her entry into the contest, adhering to the theme while also expressing her interests. She stated, “I wanted to create something that embodied the summer feeling which was also the theme of the bulletin board. My inspiration for what I drew stemmed from my love for sharks and other ocean animals.”
The process of selecting a winner for the contest was thorough and challenging, as there were many impressive entries. A panel of judges scored entries, looking closely at components such as effort and creativity. When commenting on Garrison’s work, Arts Council Chair Sophia LaTourette ‘25 shared, “The process included analyzing creativity and uniqueness. Effort played a huge role because I could tell she took a lot of time to make it.” LaTourette and the rest of the Arts Council unanimously voted that Garrison’s art was exemplary and worthy of first place, which allocated Royal Rumble points to the Blue Team.
These bulletin boards are created monthly in order to promote community involvement in the arts. Currently, the board is Halloween-themed, and the Arts Council is asking that students create their own jack-o-lanterns and post them as an entry to the next contest.
