This summer, Taleen McOmber ’26 attended the YMCA Youth Conference on National Affairs (CONA), a weeklong conference held in Black Mountain, North Carolina, where she put her debate skills to the test against more than 590 students from around the country.
Taleen’s performance at the regional YMCA Model UN Conference at Hershey Lodge in January made her a stand-out among more than 1,300 delegates. As part of the award-winning Trinity Hall Model UN team, she was selected to attend CONA based on her delegation involvement, leadership ability and demonstration of the YMAC’s core values.
“The conference was absolutely incredible, providing me the opportunity to meet a diverse group of individuals from various places,” Taleen said. “My proposal addressed the challenges of deepfake technology, which manipulates appearances, voices and actions in digital media… To tackle these problems, I proposed a pilot program to include Artificial Intelligence (AI) education in law school curricula. This would better prepare lawyers to handle legal issues related to AI manipulation, ensuring they can effectively advocate for justice and maintain a fair legal system as technology evolves.” Taleen’s proposal was recognized in the top 20% of the conference of almost 600 participants.
Taleen will be stepping into the position of co-president of Trinity Hall’s Model UN team for the 2024-2025 school year and is excited about the future of the club. “The experience and lessons I learned were invaluable,” Taleen shared. “The Model UN delegation was exceptionally smart, thoughtful, and caring, and I feel honored to have been a part of it.”
Congratulations, Taleen!
