Monarch(s) of the Meet: Johanna Lopez’ 23 and Lucy Retterer '21
Johanna Lopez ’23 helped the freshman Monarchs to a 2nd place finish by running a personal best time of 19:06 for the Freshman 2 mile race. Johanna stepped up to the plate in order to help the freshman squad secure a 2nd place finish. Lucy Retterer’ 21 led the JV team with a strong finish by recording a personal best time of 22:13. Lucy improved her time by about a minute from last year’s race. These two Monarchs demonstrated perseverance and leadership on the cross country course.
Highlights:
The Trinity Hall XC team qualified for and competed in the legendary Shore Conference Championship at Ocean County Park on Thursday, October 24th. The Shore Conference meet took place on a beautiful and breezy fall day. The XC meet was loaded with some of the fastest runners in NJ. Eileen Bergin '23 led the freshmen to a 2nd place team finish with an impressive 5th place overall finish with a time of 14:01. Ally Lupu ’23 placed in the top ten with a time of 14:29. Logan Connor ’23 and Molly Marks '23 placed in the top 20 ran with times of 14:44 and 14:52, respectively. Johanna Lopez ‘23 completed our freshman pack by running a personal best time of 19:06 to help her team place 2nd at the Shore Conference. The varsity race (5k) proved to be a very fast race with many talented runners in the Shore Conference. Our varsity squad rose to the occasion and competed with a 7th place overall team finish. Madeline Barber '22 had a very notable and impressive performance, leading our varsity pack. Madeline ran her personal best and broke the school record for the Ocean County Park 5k with a time of 19:01. Ally Lawson ’21 (19:30) and Grace Child’ 22 (19:39) ran competitive and demonstrated a lot of mental toughness in their races. Haven Dora '22 had very strong performance with time of 19:49. Anna Ferrigine’ 21 ran a personal best time of 21:31, and was followed by Ally Perri ’21 and Kate Hegel ’22, who completed our varsity pack by finishing with times of 21:44 and 22:00, respectively. Our JV squad was led by Lucy Retterer ’21 who ran a personal record of 22:13. Cecilia Peters’21 (23:36), Caroline Page ’21 (23:40), Ellie Thompson ’22 (23:53), Molly Clifford’ 20 (25:30), Katherine McCarthy ’21 (26:01), Logan Dziadzio’ 20 (26:21), and Lila Greene ’22 (28:25) toed the line in the JV race to conclude a strong day of racing.
